چکیده

In this paper, we propose a finite-element scheme for solving numerically the equations of a transient two dimensional grade-two fluid non-Newtonian Rivlin-Ericksen fluid model. This system of equations is considered an appropriate model for the motion of a water solution of polymers. As expected, the difficulties of this problem arise from the transport equation. As one of our aims is to derive unconditional a priori estimates from the discrete analogue of the transport equation, we stabilize our scheme by adding a consistent stabilizing term. We use the IP2 − IP1 Taylor-Hood finite-element scheme for the velocity v and the pressure p, and the discontinuous IP1 finite element for an auxiliary variable z. The error is of the order of h + k, considering that the discretization of the transport equation loses inevitably a factor h.

Investigation of vessels pressure effect on PEM electrolyzer performance by using a new OneDimensional Dynamic Model

In recent years energy shortage and environmental impacts due to consuming fossil fuels have led to developing renewable energy sources systems. Since these sources are not reliable and are usually time dependent, an energy storing system like hydrogen production is required. In this regard, PEM electrolyzer can be efficiently used to decompose liquid water into hydrogen and oxygen. Because of ...

The Effect of Numerical Diffusion on Isolated Bubbles in a Gas-Solid Fluidized Bed

A two-fluid hydrodynamic model of a two-dimensional gas-solids fluidized bed is used to calculate the shape of an isolated bubble. The calculations are done by applying four different discretization schemes to the convection term. The bubble shape calculated by using the first order upwind scheme is unphysical and pointed, where as the bubble shape calculated by the second order schemes SMART, ...

Helicopter Rotor Airloads Prediction Using CFD and Flight Test Measurement in Hover Flight

An implicit unsteady upwind solver including a mesh motion approach was applied to simulate a helicopter including body, main rotor and tail rotor in hover flight. The discretization was based on a second order finite volume approach with fluxes given by the Roeand#39;s scheme. Discretization of Geometric Conservation Laws (GCL) was devised in such a way that the three-dimensional flows on arbi...

Hybrid Central-upwind Schemes for Numerical Resolution of Two-phase Flows

In this paper we present a methodology for constructing accurate and efficient hybrid central-upwind (HCU) type schemes for the numerical resolution of a two-fluid model commonly used by the nuclear and petroleum industry. Particularly, we propose a method which does not make use of any information about the eigenstructure of the Jacobian matrix of the model. The two-fluid model possesses a hig...

روش بالادست چندبعدی براساس مشخصه‌ها برای تحلیل جریان تراکم ناپذیر داخل حفره

In this research, a new multidimensional characteristic based upwind scheme for the solution of incompressible Navier-Stokes equations is presented. The incompressible flow equations have been coupled each other by the aid of artificial compressibility method. Unlike to the traditional characteristic based (CB) schemes, the present scheme is genuinely multidimensional in that the local charact...
